doesn’t calling it a “reverse harem” insist there must only be two genders ? There’s a harem, which is a boy with loads of girls, and then the reverse would be a girl with loads of boys.

No, it doesn’t insist two ‘genders’ at all. It’s a genre designation that allows for easy searching whether the protagonist is male or female. It doesn’t even really imply the sexuality of the main protagonist or the members of the harem, though there are “rules” that follow any genre and bisexual guys are more prevalent in ‘reverse-harem’ like bisexual girls are more prevalent in ‘harem’ stories. You can have gay harems. I wouldn’t get too hung up on genre listings.
